National Golf Month

100_0897

August is National Golf Month. Modern golf originated in Scotland in the Sixteenth Century, although we do know that similar games were found in Rome, Persia, England, France, the Netherlands, and China before that time. The first written account of modern golf is in 1457 when it was banned in Scotland. King James II lifted the ban in 1502 and played the game himself. It has now become a popular sport around the world. There are nearly 40,000 golf courses and several professional golf tours worldwide. Golf is an important sport in our house. We really like the fact that it is a sport for people of all ages, and we often watch the tournaments on weekends.

Scottish Blessing (English Translation)

If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
So let it be!
