National Learn To Swim Day

Learning to swim was important when I was growing up. My dad was once a lifeguard, and he made sure my sisters and I had swimming lessons and opportunities to practice swimming. I’ve never had a backyard pool, but I’ve always lived near water, and I’ve always loved swimming. Whether you have water in your backyard or not, teaching children to swim can help build confidence and develop agility. It’s good for everyone to know basic water skills. How can you celebrate this day? Here are some suggestions from teachmetoswim.com:  Learn about water safety; enroll children in swimming lessons; visit a community pool; thank a lifeguard; check out books at the library on famous swimmers. Summer is near—learn to swim!

And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:9-10
